Pillows Buying Guide
Down and Feather
Down and feather pillows are an excellent natural choice of filling. These mould around your neck and shoulders for maximum comfort and give more choice in terms of firmness. They may not be suitable however for allergy sufferers and are more difficult to wash than synthetic fillings.
Synthetic
Synthetic fillings are best for allergy sufferers and have the added advantage of being easier to wash. There is not as much choice of firmness as with down and feather pillows.
Memory Foam
Memory foam pillows shape themselves to your neck and shoulders providing maximum comfort. These are sometimes known as ergonomic pillows. These may also be used by allergy sufferers.
Latex
Latex pillows give firm support and as they don't readily collect house dust are an excellent choice for asthmatics and the majority of allergy sufferers. A few people may be allergic to latex which is produced from rubber but a good pillowcase will overcome this problem in most cases.
Eco-friendly
A few fillings are available from natural plant materials such as kapok or millet husks.
